Marcel Fecteau

Marcel Fecteau is a renowned French-Canadian self-taught painter born in Montreal, Quebec. He produced his first sketches at the age of 14, while working in a lumber camp in northern Ontario. Later, he moved into commercial art, setting up his own company specializing in the design and manufacture of signs.

In 1969, he began easel painting, and in 1972 held his first solo exhibition at Galerie Gauvreau (later Galerie Bernard Desroches). He became famous for his colorful depictions of rural Quebec, mainly the Gaspé and Charlevoix regions.

His work can be found in private and corporate collections, including Price Waterhouse, Hydro-Québec and Collège Lasalle, to name but a few.
