Biography

Jacques Descoteaux is a Canadian artist, born in Montreal, currently living and working as a full-time artist in Toronto. Descoteaux has worked as both an accountant and artist for over 25 years, but now solely focuses on his artistic career. He has experimented with water colour and pastel, and more recently is working with oil and acrylic on canvas/paper. Descoteaux also works in sculpture and mixed media, but primarily in painting, which are inspired by landscapes, the sky and the sea. Throughout the years, he has studied at various art schools and visited a number of artists’ studios. In 2015 and 2019,Descoteaux was granted two art residences that were part of the Cill Rialaig Project in Co. Kerry, Ireland. Apart from pursuing an artistic career, Descoteaux also volunteers on a number of Boards for non-profit organizations in social justice and the art world. Descoteaux has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Toronto, Montréal, and New York. His work can be found in private collections across Canada, the US, and Europe.
